The FS-03 is compatible with video codecs using echo cancellation for the removal of transmission echo. The codec’s internal echo cancellation should be compatible with the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) G.167 recommendation for acoustic echo controllers. The goal is to remove 60dB of echo to prevent the far end from hearing delayed echo of their own voice. This process should be completely automatic. The G.167 specification states the echo cancellation should converge at a rate of 30dB per second. The CTG proprietary auto-mixing process allows microphone gating without compromising echo cancellation.
Connecting the Codec
The FS-03 should be connected at line level to a video codec. CTG will provide the appropriate connecting cable for the particular codec model. If given the choice, the codec’s internal echo cancellation should be set to the ON position. The following illustration shows the connection between video codec and the FS-03. Some Codecs have only mic level input and CTG will provide an attenuated cable for them, if notified.
