| Junior District Band Scale and Rudiment Requirements
1. All scales are to be played as designated. 2. Do not exceed the range or tempo specified. 3. All scales are to be memorized. 4. Scales will be called for by pitch name - - - NOT concert pitch. 5. All major scales are to be played in the pattern below (MM quarter note = 72) 
6. Chromatic scale should be played in sixteenth notes (minimum MM quarter note = 72) 7. Chromatic scale should be slurred ascending, repeat the top note, and staccato descending. FLUTE Two octave scales: C, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb Chromatic: lowest F to highest F (two octaves)
One octave scales: Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb Two octave scale: C Chromatic: lowest C to highest C (two octaves) BASSOON One octave scales: Eb, F, G, Ab Two octave scales: Bb, C Chromatic: lowest Bb to highest Bb (two octaves) Bb CLARINET Two octave scales: G, C, F, Bb, A, D Chromatic: lowest E to highest E (three octaves)
One octave scales: A, C, D Two octave scales: E, F, G Chromatic: lowest Eb to highest Eb (two octaves) BASS and Bb CONTRABASS CLARINET One octave scales: D, C, Bb, A Two octave scales: G, F Chromatic: lowest Eb to highest Eb (two octaves) ALTO and BARI SAX One octave scales: G, A Two octave scales: C, D, F, E Chromatic: lowest D to highest D (two octaves) TENOR SAX One octave scales: G, Bb (upper octave), A Two octave scales: C, D, F Chromatic: lowest D to highest D (two octaves) TRUMPET One octave scales: D, C, F, Bb, A Two octave scale: G Chromatic: lowest G to highest G (two octaves) FRENCH HORN One octave scales: G, C, Bb, Eb, D Two octave scale: F Chromatic: lowest F to highest F (two octaves) TROMBONE One octave scales: C, Eb, G, Ab, Bb = legato tone up, slightly detach down Two octave scale: F = legato tone up, slightly detach down Chromatic: lowest F to highest F (two octaves) = legato tone up, slightly detach down BARITONE T.C. Same as Trumpet BARITONE B.C.
