Welcome

Kawartha Lakes is naturally beautiful, and offers an exceptional lifestyle year-round. This Community Guide highlights the wide variety of recreational available throughout our municipality during the fall and winter months.

Our Parks, Recreation and Culture Division works hard to provide a wealth of opportunities for you and your family to stay active and get involved within the community. Through collaboration with a variety of not-for-profit organizations, clubs, our local college, private service providers and countless volunteers, they have developed a range of programing suitable for people of all ages, interests and abilities.

Recreational programming is an important part of what makes Kawartha Lakes such an enjoyable place to live.

Municipal Service Centres

Service Administrators as well as other municipal service providers such as building inspectors, public works area managers and fire prevention inspectors are located at Service Centres.


What can you do at a Municipal Service Centre?
• Municipal water, sewer and tax inquiries and payments.

• Building permits, dog licenses, marriage licenses (Lindsay), lottery licenses, entrance permits, burial permits, burn permits and Commissioner of Oaths Services.

• Photocopying and facsimile services; issuance of duplicate tax receipts.

• Green/Blue box, composter and rain barrel sales and information.

• Assistance in completing a variety of municipal and/or other government agency forms and applications.

• Information about municipal processes and procedures (i.e. tax rates, area rating and


property assessment).

• Each Service Centre has a Community Bulletin Board for local community groups/organizations to advertise and promote their upcoming events and activities.

• Research and follow up on customer inquiries with other municipal departments. In addition, we provide information services in regard to various programs and initiative of other municipal departments.

• Council and Committee agendas and an update outlining the decisions made by Council.

• Extended library hours at Bethany, Coboconk and Kirkfield.

How to Register

FEES & SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

All prices and scheduled activity times listed in the Community Guide are subject to change. Parks, Recreation & Culture staff will be pleased to confirm prices and schedule at the time of registration.
N.S.F. CHEQUES

A $37 fee will be charged for each N.S.F. cheque.


REFUNDS & CREDITS

The Division reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. In these cases a full refund/credit will be issued.


Refunds/credits for any other reason are subject to approval and a 15% (minimum $5) administration fee. All refund requests must be made in writing. All approved refunds will be processed by electronic fund transfer.
PROGRAM CANCELLATION

Program cancellations due to emergencies or bad weather will be broadcast over BOB-FM (91.9 FM Lindsay). Programs will not operate on statutory holidays, unless otherwise stated.

Opportunity for adults to help children practice and develop skating, stick handling and passing skills in a non-competitive environment. All participants are required to wear a CSA approved helmet. Aquatic General Information

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Division maintains two aquatic facilities year-round:

The Lindsay Recreation Complex and the Forbert Memorial Pool in Bobcaygeon
City Aquatics offers 3 levels of participation:

Participation at facility Public Swims year round and free beaches in the summer.


Direct programming of Red Cross & Lifesaving Society Swim Programs, Adult, Synchro and Diving for all ages and abilities.
Groups and individuals can rent pool time and offer kayaking, scuba, competitive swimming, Dragon Boat team practices and much more.
