You can also download and install or upgrade the Debian packages without using apt-get
; for example, you can visit the web page http://www.debian.org/distrib/pack
ages, select your distribution, and search for “mysql.” Pick and download the package with the highest version number for your distribution. Once you’ve downloaded the files, login as the root user by typing su -
, and then install the packages by using the dpkg -install command—for example dpkg -install \
