Experiment B. Build & Run the block diagram for the Random Number
Plotter VI.
In this activity, you will construct and run the block diagram (the source code) for the Random Number Plotter VI.
1. Open the diagram window by clicking on the diagram window or clicking on Window >> Show
Diagram.
Notice that there are already two terminals in the block diagram. When you place a control or indicator on the front panel, a corresponding terminal automatically appears on the block diagram. In this case, when you placed the Stop button and the Random Plot waveform chart on the front panel, the corresponding terminals were automatically added to the block diagram.

2. Follow the instructions on pages 2-4 to 2-7 of the Getting Started guide to complete the block diagram and run the VI.
Note that the Run button is the arrow button on the toolbar underneath the pull-down menus (File, Edit, Operate, etc) on the front panel.

3. Follow the instructions on page 2-8 to add a timing delay to your VI but save your VI according to step 4 below. The Wait Until Next ms Multiple function (metronome icon in Figure b) tells the While Loop how long to wait between iterations. For this VI, the While Loop is instructed to wait 250 milliseconds before the next iteration. The While Loop executes all nodes within its borders. Thus, to control the time delay between iterations of the While Loop, the Wait Until Next ms Multiple function simply needs to be placed within the While Loop borders. No wiring is needed between the Wait Until Next ms Multiple function icon and the While Loop structure.
4. Select File >>Save As >> My Computer >> yourlogin on Samba 2.28(hal2)’(X:) and save your VI as yourname_lab1_ex1b.vi. Your VI is now saved to your ECI account and is accessible from the CAD lab.
