Abstract
Electronic commerce refers to the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer network The use of commerce is conducted in this way, spurring and drawing on innovations in electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems. Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web at least atone point in the transaction's life-cycle, although it may encompass a wider range of technologies such as email, mobile devices and telephones as well. With the explosion of the E-commerce in the past few years, distinct buying patterns and preferences have emerged for specific groups and other demographics. These patterns have been measured and collected by numerous independent marketing, business and even academic studies to understand how consumers connect with new technology. This paper lays the groundwork with brief introduction of recent trends in e-commerce on people. This is followed by their general perceptions and preferences of the online shopping including product and website selection.
