a general rule, spouses or other family members of an authorized traveler may not accompany Army personnel,
either military or civilian, on official business at government expense. Rather, spouse travel on either military or commercial aircraft is accomplished as an exception to policy. These exceptions are limited to the spouses. Other family members or dependents are not permitted to travel at government expense Accompanying spouses traveling on commercial aircraft at government expense will fly coach-class unless otherwise authorized in accordance
with SA Travel Policy, paragraph 10, Accompanying Spouse Travel Accompanying spouses traveling on military aircraft (MILAIR) will travel in a noninterference (nonreimbursable) status. MILAIR must be independently authorized in accordance with SA Travel Policy, paragraph 5.
• Spouses traveling in an accompanied status are typically in a representational role and are not authorized per diem.
