We are so excited for the 5th Annual Buckets and Boots Benefit Concert to raise money for the volunteer fire departments of Palo Pinto County, TX. We have a great line-up this year including Travis Tritt and Casey Conahew Band. We look forward to seeing everyone out there.

Learn the art of the cyanotype, one of the earliest photographic processes. This entry-level workshop will introduce participants to aspects that are common to most of the historical processes and their variations. Pre-registration by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7 is required. Ages 8+

Featuring the largest fireworks display ever shot off in The Woodlands. This event features vendors, activities, live music, strolling entertainers, a hot dog eating contest and more.

Presenting Framing Desire, an exhibition showcasing over 40 recent acquisitions alongside iconic photographs and videos from the permanent collection. The artists included in Framing Desire each use their medium in ways that transcend what the imagery literally depicts to intensify the idea of desire. Interweaving the documentary, subjective, and symbolic, these artists address sexuality, gender, longing, catharsis, and transgression, among other subjects.

Artist Herb Bryant will be teaching a class on painting with watercolors. Herb is the President of the Tyler Palette of Roses Art League. Under his instructions, you should be able to start a painting on your own and hopefully finish it in one day. Contact the League 903-569-8877.

Mineola League of the Arts will be hosting a knit camp for teens ages 10 and up. Adults may also attend. You will learn the basics of beginning knitting and be able to finish an item by the end of the week. The class is from 10am to 1 pm each day. Nancy Gibson will be teaching a class on stain glass. You will learn to make your own designs and work from them, learn to cut out, grind, piece together and solder. You will need to bring your own glass, solder and foil. You will also need to wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants and closed toe shoes along with a pair of safety goggles. Sculptor Suzanne Cromer will be teaching the techniques of body sculpting. Sometimes there is a model present to pose for the group. You will learn various techniques for improving the body sketch and finishing the sculpture. Clay is included in the fees. The lower fee is for members and the higher fee is for non members. In an era spanning the early 20th century, through depression ridden times and a dust bowl, one form of revelry thrived – the circus. Traveling from coast to coast, rail cars packed with canvas, exotic animal menageries, strongmen, fat ladies, and roustabouts brought a much-needed relief to millions of Americans. The Park City Museum’s latest traveling exhibition, Step Right Up. Behind the Scenes of the Circus Big Top, 1890 – 1965, will run through Aug 11.

Put on your walking shoes and explore the architecture and stories of Park City’s unique history on Main Street—from the days as a booming mine town to an emerging ski town.Groups of more than six people need to make reservations at least three weeks in advance. The tour is most appropriate for ages 13 and up. The tour lasts about one hour and 15 minutes. There is no tour on July 4, July 31 and Aug 1.

Join sculptor Bob Shannahan at this drop-in workshop program as he demonstrates how to create life-size prehistoric animals using natural materials. Meet the artist who created Montshire's featured exhibition Prehistoric Menagerie

Spend the day participating in activities that will have you examining Montshire's natural history collections, interacting with the live animals exhibits, and exploring nature throughout the 100 acre museum. Outside, explore Montshire's forests, fields, and riverbanks—inside, take a closer look at the Museum's resident frogs, turtles, fish, bees, and ants.

The Union Beach Music Festival and Classic Car Show features three bands, under the pavilion, rain or shine. The Entertainers, the Atlantic Groove Band, the Band of Oz. The classic car show will have appx. 200 classic cars on sit. Food and drinks available. Special camping rates start on Thursday, July 23. $15 per camper per night. Learn and sing-a-long in one of America’s oldest sacred music traditions. The Old Fields Singers will teach and lead in a shape note sing. No prior experience or musical talent required.

The 78 Project Movie follows the progress of two filmmakers as they journey across America recording musicians using a 1930s Presto direct-to-disc recorder. The results: a variety of 78rpm records of folk singers and punk rockers, gospel songs and Cajun music, along with insights and history about field recording and sound technology from historians, archivists, sound techs, and craftspeople.
