SJMCA 35TH ANNUAL GOLF OUTING -

Mother Nature is the only one we are waiting on to show up on Wednesday May 16th at Scotland Run Golf Club. Registration & Lunch at 11 AM with the shotgun start at 12:30PM. Another sold out event with 144 golfers ready to enjoy the camaraderie of friends in our Industry. Members of SJMCA who are not golfing can attend the dinner which is a fun time especially with John Rihl on the microphone. Wonderful prizes and raffle items will be available. Thanks to the Golf Committee of Dan Falasca Sr. and John Rihl with special thanks to Dave Jones.


PREVAILING WAGE LEGISLATION

April 26, 2007, Acting Governor Codey signed legislation requiring a prevailing wage for work done on public property. This legislation requires Contractors doing construction on public property will have to pay workers wages determined by the state. Under the law, prevailing wages will be paid under any construction and renovation contract on property owned by any public body, including the state, even if the public property is leased to a private entity.


CODE CHANGES

Effective FEBRUARY 20, 2007, the State of New Jersey officially adopted the 2006 National Standard Plumbing Code. The State has instituted a

grace period, which allows engineers to continue designing current projects under the former code. It will last for six months, ending on AUGUST 20, 2007.

Members of the Association are permitted to send two people at no charge and additional people at $50 each.
2006 PLUMBING CODE BOOKS

Books are available at no cost to all SJMCA contractor members. Contact the SJMCA office directly at (856) 988-5494 to request a copy.


NEW JERSEY STATE CHILD LABOR GUIDELINES

The Child Labor Law enforced by all units within the Division of Wage and Hour Compliance protects minors from working excessive hours and under hazardous conditions. Numerous occupations are prohibited for youth under age 18.
