Kelley Washington

Height: 6-3

Weight: 223

Position: WR

College: Tennessee

Drafted: Pick 1 of the 3rd round by Cincinnati
Analysis
Positives: Explosive breakaway threat with impressive leaping ability... Explodes coming off the line and uses his hands well to escape press coverage...Has an array of moves to elude defenders and shows proper crack-block techniques upfield...Sharp route runner who is especially effective on underneath passes and crossing patterns...Has good field awareness and is very conscious of the sideline markers...Separates quickly from the defender in the open, showing that second gear needed to gain yardage after the catch... Natural hand extender going up for the ball and shows fluid body adjustments coming back for the off-target tosses...Very tough and physical going for the ball in a crowd...His upfield acceleration consistently allows him to break tackles...Gets in the defender's way when trying to block for the ground game.
Negatives: Concentration on the ball needs improvement, as he does not always get his head turned around properly to track the ball in flight...Hesitates at times when he can't escape the press at the line, seeming to give up when his initial move does not work... While he shows quickness in-&-out of his breaks, he will run sloppy routes late in the game (tends to run out of gas)...Rash of injuries (back, knee, head) are a concern.
Career Notes

Jason Witten

Height: 6-6

Weight: 264

Position: TE

College: Tennessee

Drafted: Pick 5 of the 3rd round by Dallas
Analysis
Positives: Well-built athlete with long arms and legs...Has the frame to add needed bulk without any drop-off in quickness...Has a sharp change of direction and shows excellent hip swerve while combating for the ball over the middle...Gets a good push off the defender to escape the jam...Stays low, extends his arms and keeps his feet shuffling when providing pass protection...Very effective in finding the soft spot in the zone, but also uses his body properly to shield the ball from the defender in man coverage...Has natural hands, keeping then properly extended away from the body going up for the ball...Has the quickness to outrun a linebacker after the catch...Very good at adjusting to the low passes and is not afraid to sacrifice his body to get to those balls...Shows good weave in his run and the leg drive to drag a defensive back after the catch... Fluid route runner who maintains balance near the sidelines...Searches out defenders to deliver a crunching block for the ground game upfield.
Negatives: Little bit on the soft side and needs more upper body development...Effective pass blocker, but does not hit on the rise or roll his hips properly for in-line blocking situations...Shows more finesse than power as a blocker and when engaging defenders coming off the snap.
