Ocean Life
As the depth of ocean water increases, the pressure also increases, while the temperature and amount of light decrease. These factors influence the type of life forms that are present at a given depth. Ocean organisms are divided into three groups (benthos, nekton, and plankton) according to the depth at which they live.
Benthos
Benthos live on the ocean floor, usually in shallow areas. Examples include clams, lobsters, crabs, starfish, oysters, sea cucumbers, and anenomes.
