Gallery Sitters Needed
Ohio Art League is looking or several volunteers to gallery sit on a regular on rotating basis for the following days and times:
Thursdays 5 – 8 p.m.
Saturdays 12 – 4 p.m. and 4 – 8 p.m.
Volunteers can sign up to work these shift every week or every other week depending on their schedule.
Gallery sitting is it is a great way to meet artists, while having time to draw, read or even work on your homework in a great space.
Gallery sitter duties include greeting visitors, answering the phone and taking messages. Internet is available for those who would like to bring a laptop. Parking is available at meters on High Street, a parking garage is only steps away and free parking is available on both 9th and 11th Avenue.

Room to Let Temporary Art Space
Rooms to Let facilitates projects that use the idea, form, and space of houses in various temporary states; from the vacant lot, to the rehabbed property, to the new development.
Rooms to Let accepts project proposals on a rolling basis. Through generous donations from Homeport Ohio, Rooms to Let is able to offer a plethora of site options for the 2013 season. Applicants will be notified of upcoming proposal reviews upon submission. Curators, artists, and scholars of any medium are encouraged to apply, including: fine art, performance, writing, graphic design, music, video, textiles, science, etc. There is virtually no limitation to the nature of proposals.

Ohio All-Media Art Exhibition

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University announces a regional juried exhibition entitled Ohio-All Media, a juried exhibition created as a showcase for Ohio artists working in any media, traditional or experimental; $1000.00 in awards! Open to artists at least 18 years of age residing in Ohio. A maximum of 3 entries for $25.00 are allowed per artist. Entries must be original works in any media (2-D or 3-D), completed within the last two (2) years. Artists are responsible for shipping/delivery costs to/from the gallery. The VSAO@Pearl Market Merchant opportunity is an effort to provide artists with disabilities the opportunity to sell their art, become a self-advocate, and learn more about being a professional artist. Selling art at community markets and festivals is a great way to connect to patrons. VSA Ohio has secured a booth every Friday at the seasonal Pearl Alley Farmers Market in downtown Columbus.
Available dates are Friday, June 7-Sept. 27. Artists must arrive at 10:30 am and stay until 2pm. Artists and studios from across Ohio may apply to be a Market Merchant for NO FEE. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning Wednesday, May 1 and processed in the order they are received. The VSA Playwright Discovery Competition invites middle and high school students to take a closer look at the world around them, examine how disability affects their lives and the lives of others, and express their views through the art of scriptwriting. Scripts can be comedies, dramas, or even musicals – be creative!

Call to Artist of EVERY Medium!
Arts Council of Indianapolis (ACI) and Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC)
Deadline: Monday, July 8, at 5:00 PM
ACI and GIPC seek to commission a substantial piece of public art for the City of the Indianapolis integral to the identity of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick, the neighborhood in which it resides, and downtown Indianapolis. The piece will reflect the proud and distinct history of the African American community in central Indiana. From the numerous world-renowned musicians like Wes Montgomery who put the jazz heritage of Indiana Avenue on the map, to entrepreneur and philanthropist Madame C.J. Walker, to sports legends like the Negro Baseball League’s Oscar Charleston and cyclist Major Taylor: the city’s African American heritage is rich. The piece selected for this project will be a thoughtful investigation of who we are as a city and a community.
The artwork should represent the Indianapolis African American community in a thoughtful, insightful, creative, and positive manner. This call is not limited to any specific medium. The selection committee is open to all media and styles including the use of technology.

City of Bowie, Maryland Call to Artist
Wall Hanging Project

The city of Bowie is seeking to commission a qualified artist/artist team to create an original wall sculpture for the lobby of Bowie City Hall, Bowie Maryland. The proposed artwork will be located on the wall halfway up the grand staircase in the lobby, adjacent to the outside glass wall that gives the area direct sunlight part of the day. The area is somewhat triangular in shape and the artwork should be no wider than 12 feet, no taller than six feet, and should offer a third dimension that is no less than three inches and more than six inches bronze plaques and a large kinetic mobile sculpture that is made of bronze, copper, and brass. Arts Legal Assistance Program
The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and the Columbus Bar Association (CBA) offer a program providing pro bono legal assistance for Franklin County individual artists and small arts organizations.
The Arts Legal Assistance Program is offered for arts related issues based on CBA defined areas on legal support (i.e., contracts, copyright and trademark issues, business structure issues and lease agreements).
The program is intended to support individual artists and smaller arts groups. This includes arts organizations with annual budgets of less than $500,000.
Artists and organizations seeking a referral to the appropriate attorney will contact GCAC who will do a preliminary evaluation of the request. GCAC will help address questions from prospective artists or arts organizations regarding the scope and services available through the Arts Legal Assistance Program, and will help ensure resources are made available on the broadest possible basis to artist and organizations with the most significant need.
