Employment informal units is on the average almost thrice that of informal units. Also, given the technological nature of the industry, the major part of the employment is of managerial and supervisory personnel and skilled workers, especially informal units. We compare the labour productivity of formal and informal units in Table 6.5. Labour productivity is about 72 percent higher informal vendor units.
