AFDP-1

Centralized command gives the commander the responsibility and authority for planning, directing and coordinating a military operation using the C philosophy of mission command. Centralized command is best accomplished by an Airman at the functional component commander level who maintains abroad focus on the JFC’s objectives to direct, integrate, prioritize, plan, coordinate and assess the use of airpower across the competition continuum. Centralized command empowers the air component commander to respond to changes in the environment and enables priority and balance while still allowing subordinate echelons to exercise initiative. Centralized command promotes effectiveness and preserves flexibility and versatility at the operational level.
