1. Worship
We worship God as we exalt him, love him, and show our devotion through obedience to him. Christ told his disciples to remember his sacrifice through the Lords Supper (communion. So the first church honored God through the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42). They also practiced the other ordinance of
Christ—baptism (Acts 2:41). The early church prayed (Acts 2:42). They also praised God (Acts 2:47). One way to praise God is through the music and words used in hymns.

2. Proclamation
The first church followed the Apostle’s teaching (Acts 2:42). The church is to proclaim the word of God through preaching and teaching. Preachers urge listeners to come to a decision that moves the listener to agree with God. Peter preached to the crowd at Pentecost, and the people were moved to receive Christ as Lord (Acts 2:14,37-41). Preaching is purposeful—it is decision oriented. Preaching comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable. Teaching helps the listener to understand God’s word. Overtime, teaching should allow disciples to become spiritually mature—being able to make godly decisions. Preaching and teaching overlap each other.
