ClASSIFICATION OF BUILDING According to Bye laws buildings are classified based on occupancy and types of construction.
1. CLASSIFICATION BASED UPON OCCUPANCY All the building is to be classified according to the use or the character of occupancy as Follows.

Group I - Hazardous 2. CLASSIFICATION BASED ON TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION ACCORDING TO FIRE RESISTANCE MAYBE CLASSIFIED INTO FOUR CATEGORIES. 1. Type 1 construction All structural components offer 4
hour fire resistance 2. Type 2 construction All structural components offer 3 hour fire resistance
3. Type 3 construction All structural components offer 2 hour fire resistance
4. Type 4 construction All structural components offer 1 hour fire resistance

TERMINOLOGY 1. BUILDING HEIGHT: In case flat roofs, the vertical distance measured from the average level of the centre line of the adjoining street to the highest point of the buckling is known to height. In case of pitched roofs building height is vertical distance measured from the average level of the center line, of the adjoining street to the point where external surface of the outer- serve no other purpose
except that of decoration, shall not be considered for the purpose of taking heights.
