CPM – Young Parents Program

VACANCY:  Transition to College Advisor                Springfield, MA - 1 Part Time position

REPORTS TO:  Program Director

REQUIREMENTS:  A Bachelor’s degree. At least one year of experience working with youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle. Ability to pass a CORI check. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Transition to College Advisor is responsible for guiding participants through the selection process of their college track as well as facilitating the process of acquiring the necessary credentials and experiences to be a competitive candidate for enrollment in community college or a residential liberal arts college. More specifically, the Transition to College Advisor works with participants to ensure that they obtain the necessary tests (HiSET/SATs), complete financial aid applications (FAFSA), including the college application (CommonApp) and the essay portion for highly selective four-year schools. The Transition to College Advisor serves as the point of contact for any participant interested in going to college or participating in  a bridge to college program such as the Clemente Course in the Humanities sponsored by Bard College or the Transition to College program at Holyoke Community College. The ideal candidate will have had some experience in college advising or teaching and a demonstrable knowledge of area colleges in Springfield and neighboring towns.  

SALARY:  $16.00/hr.
