Explanation of Projects Information is as reported in the 2016-17 Portfolio Budget Statements with the following updates: A8996 Puckapunyal High Voltage ProjectThe project will provide an essential upgrade to the High Voltage power supply and reticulation network at the Puckapunyal Military Area, Vic. Construction commenced in late 2016 and will be completed by late 2017. AIR 5428 Phase 1 - Pilot Training System FacilitiesThe project will provide fit-for-purpose facilities to support the modern joint training system being delivered by the AIR5428-1 Capability Project. Construction commenced in September 2016 with all sites to be completed by late 2020. R7100 C-17 Maintenance Facility, Aircraft Apron and Associated InfrastructureThe project will provide a maintenance facility, additional working accommodation, aircraft apron and associated infrastructure to support C-17 operations at RAAF Base Amberley, Qld. Construction commenced in late 2016 and will be completed by late 2018. LAND 17 Phases 1B and 1C – Indirect Fire Support FacilitiesThe project will provide storage, maintenance and training facilities in support of the Lightweight Towed Howitzer at multiple Defence sites across Australia. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in mid 2017 and be completed by mid 2018. AIR 3024 Woomera Range Safety and Control System RemediationThe project will provide facilities and infrastructure to support the systems developed for Woomera Test Range (WTR) under project JP3024-Phase 1. The Project will include, but is not limited to, the development of a number of remote array sites, buried fibre optic cable, construction of new facilities and infrastructure at WTR including a new Range Control Centre. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence mid 2017 and be completed by late 2018. JP500 Phase 2A - Electronic Warfare Operational SupportThe project will provide facilities and infrastructure to support Electronic Warfare capability at DSTO Edinburgh, SA. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence mid 2017 and be completed by mid 2018. Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC)The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is an important Australian Government initiative to ensure that Australian networks are amongst the hardest in the world to compromise. The ACSC brings together existing cyber security capabilities across the Department of Defence (Defence), the Attorney-General’s Department, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) in a single location. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence early 2017 and be completed by late 2017. LAND 500 Phase 1 - Remediation of Tactical Land Electronic Warfare - Cabarlah, Queensland & Holsworthy, New South Wales.The project will provide facilities and infrastructure for 7 Signals Regiment, the Defence School of Signals, the Tactical Electronic Warfare Systems Program Office and 2nd Commando Regiment. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in late 2017 and be completed by mid 2018. A9019 LAND 155 Enhanced Gap Crossing CapabilityThe project will provide new storage and hardstand facilities to support the introduction of enhanced gap crossing capability at Liverpool Military Area, NSW, Joint Logistics Unit South Queensland, Joint Logistics Unit North Queensland and Joint Logistics Unit North, NT. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in late 2017 and be completed by mid 2018. N2253 Garden Island (East) Critical Infrastructure Recovery Project (CIRP) – Stage OneThe project will address critical structural, condition and engineering services risks on the Cruiser Wharf at Garden Island (East), Sydney, NSW. Subject to Parliamentary approval, construction is scheduled to commence in mid 2017 and be completed by late 2020. N2253 Garden Island (East) Critical Infrastructure Recovery Project (CIRP) – Stage TwoTo address critical wharf infrastructure and engineering services risks at Garden Island (East), Sydney, NSW (excluding those being addressed under Stage One). Subject to Government and Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in late 2017 and be completed by mid 2018. C8940 Russell Buildings R5 and R6 Infrastructure UpgradeThe project will provide essential building and engineering services upgrade to extend the life of Russell Buildings R5 and R6. Subject to Government and Parliamentary approval, construction is scheduled to commence in early 2018 and be completed by mid 2021. N2197 - HMAS Cerberus RedevelopmentEngineering services upgrade, consolidation of Living In Accommodation (LIA) and Mess Facilities, co-location of Clothing Store with Naval Store, School of Survivability and Ship Safety upgrade, Gym upgrade, (Armoury, Explosive Ordnance (EO) and Weapons Storage Facility upgrade,) and demolition. Subject to Government and Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in late 2017 and be completed by late 2019. JP2008 Phase 5B Ground Satellite StationFacilities, (mainly infrastructure) to support JP2008PH5B requirements. Project aim is to establish a multi terminal remotely-controlled Satellite Ground Station-East (SGS-E) at Kapooka Training Base, Wagga Wagga. Subject to Government and Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in mid 2017 and be completed by late 2018. J0126 – Bulimba Barracks Partial Disposal and Unit RelocationPurpose is to ensure that Navy’s operational and administrative functions are retained after the partial disposal of surplus Defence land at Bulimba Barracks. The project also seeks to construct new facilities and services on the remaining portion of the site to replace those functions that will be displaced due to the partial disposal of the site. Subject to Government and Parliamentary approval, construction is planned to commence in late 2017 and be completed by late 2018. |
