About HTC:
HTC is the creator of many award-winning mobile devices and industry firsts. By putting people at the center of everything it does, HTC pushes the boundaries of design and technology to create innovative and personal experiences for consumers around the globe. HTC's portfolio includes smartphones and tablets powered by HTC Sense™, a multilayered graphical user interface that vastly improves user experience. The HTC One series integrates amazing camera functionality with truly authentic sound to create the most premium experience.

HTC Innovation:

Over the past 7 years, HTC's Innovation Team in Seattle has created the vision for HTC Sense™, HTC's branded, cross-platform user experience. During that time, HTC has transformed from a device manufacturer into a global consumer brand. The Innovation Team provides design strategy for all of HTC, and collaborates directly with product teams in Taipei to bring new designs to market. We are a small team with the feel of a startup and the backing of a company with over $10 billion in annual sales.
Our process relies on the collaboration of exceptionally talented individuals within integrated cross-disciplinary teams to create products that offer functional benefits and emotional resonance to our target audiences.

Opportunity:

The Creative Labs group is looking for a prototype developer to bring HTC’s concepts to life, ranging from mobile device applications to custom hardware interfaces. We’re looking for someone with the technical skills of a developer and the sensibilities of an interaction/visual designer. You'll partner with Researchers and Designers to define and deliver new features, test new concepts and assist with final implementation. The prototypes you create will be used to explore new kinds of smart device interactions, communicate non-verbal experiential concepts and validate new directions through user testing and research. Attention to detail will be critical as you develop and iterate on interactions and motion in order to precisely capture the vision and execution of new design concepts.

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts to team members, product groups, and executives.

  • Work on tight deadlines while managing and prioritizing several projects.

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of designers through iterative development to insure the product vision is conveyed in an impactful and expressive manner.

  • Manage design deliverables and relationships with HTC's planning and engineering groups in Taipei and San Francisco.

  • Contribute to an evolving design culture and process throughout HTC's worldwide Creative Labs design organization.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 3 or more years developing clean, responsive and performant applications and websites.

  • Experience with development on mobile devices.

  • Proficiency in building apps for touch and experience implementing smooth and responsive animations

  • Advanced level of proficiency in one or more of the following platforms: Java/Android, Objective C/iOS. Experience with Unity/C# a plus

  • Proficiency using industry standard design and development applications including the Adobe Creative Suite

  • Ability and willingness to adapt to a constantly changing technical landscape, including moving to new platforms and programming languages as necessary

We should get to know each other if you:

  • Are thrilled by the chance to ship new products to millions of passionate HTC users.

  • Obsess about creating design solutions that offer both functional and emotional benefits.

  • See design as both a cultural and strategic activity.

  • Are happy to travel quarterly to Taipei, Taiwan to collaborate with product groups.
