A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Kotobukiya’s series of Marvel Comics ARTFX+ Statues continues with the latest mutant hero in the Marvel Now lineup that has been taking the world by storm. In 2012 the comic book company relaunched several titles, shifting some characters into different books and updating some for a modern audience. More than anything, it provided a perfect jumping on point for new readers. Now the characters are brought to life as never before based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov, who was also responsible for the preceding Avengers series. Completing the X-Men lineup and joining previously released Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magneto, Magik, Beast, and Rogue is fan favorite WOLVERINE! A nearly immortal mutant with a powerful healing factor and heightened senses, Wolverine was further enhanced by an adamantium-laced skeleton and ultra-sharp claws. Throughout his years with the X-Men (and other teams) he’s worn several different costumes, and this new version is the ARTFX+ debut of his unique Marvel Now outfit consisting of a tough, combat-ready uniform. It’s a full bodysuit revealing only the lower part of his face, though of course his claws protrude through it as well. Wolverine is captured in mid-lunge, stepping forward with his right leg as he jabs his left hand for a lethal strike. The stark black and yellow armor sections of his costume make a cool “X” out of negative space, and it includes his trademark pointed cowl. Logan’s face is contorted into a fierce snarl as he attacks his enemies, and he looks super cool with his eyes covered by the pure white lenses of his costume. Sculpted by the same master artist who did the Marvel Now! Avengers series, Junnosuke Abe, the diminutive Wolverine stands under 7 ½ inches tall (in the ARTFX+ 1/10th scale) with magnets in his feet to provide perfect stability on his included display base. The latest new addition to the ARTFXJ lineup (a bold expansion designed “to bring Japanese characters to their fans worldwide”) is the internationally mega-popular franchise Ghost in the Shell! Leaping directly out of the re-imagining series Ghost in the Shell: Arise with character designs by Kazuchika Kise is the main heroine in an amazing new presentation: MOTOKO KUSANAGI! A younger version of the cyborg than she appeared in previous installments of the series, Motoko sits atop a high-tech device that’s plugged into her prosthetic body via wires and cables in her legs, chest, and back. The 501 Organization Agent waits impatiently for the procedure to be finished with one hand resting next to her and the other casually holding a pistol with her arm resting on her pulled-up knee. Motoko wears her signature red shorts and top and her short blue hair frames her scowling face and matches her blue eyes. The machinery in her base, wires, and connection ports in her body are beautifully rendered with intricate sculpted detail and lots of different colors. A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Frame Arms Girl is a new expansion of Kotobukiya’s Frame Arms series combining the customizability of those plastic model kits with the aesthetics of our Ani*Statues. Following up after Gourai, Stylet, and Materia in this unique line is a new feminine robot called JINRAI! While standard Frame Arms robots are built around a basic, articulated internal skeleton, the Frame Arms Girls like Jinrai are actual robot Frames themselves capable of utilizing an astounding array of armor, weapons, and accessories. Jinrai looks like a real girl, slender and cute, who wears high-tech red and purple armor (complete with connector pieces) on her torso, arms, and legs along with a matching choker and a boxy black headband over her long blond hair. The Frame Arms Girl consists of 230 pieces and features thirteen points of articulation for a wide array of posing options. A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! The next amazing Ani*Statue from Kotobukiya takes us to the world of 7th Dragon, a series of role-playing games for Nintendo DS from Sega. In this world alien creatures called “dragons” have taken over the Earth and it’s up to heroes from a variety of different classes to fight them and save humanity. The first Ani*Statue from the franchise is the cute and mysterious FORTUNER from the final sequel 7th Dragon III Code: VFD (coming to North America in summer, 2016)! Called the “astrologer of the battlefield,” the Fortuner uses scythes and the forces of death in the fight against the dragons. This version of the character utilizes the Atlantis style from 12,000 years ago and the standard color scheme in the game’s complex character creation matrix. Fortuner stalks her prey carefully, bent over at the waist with her hands outstretched behind her and one leg crossed in front of the other. She never takes her green eyes off of her enemy, staring it down with a penetrating gaze and a determined expression. The girl wears a complex outfit with a short frilly dress and multiple capes and sashes layered over it, all in the beautiful blue, purple, and white color scheme with black, white, and gray accents. Of particular note is the twisting and flowing motion of Fortuner’s clothing as well as the sculpting detail calling out the different materials in it, and of course the adorable cat ears with fur that sit atop her head.
