We refer to the map of the property rights characteristics as in Figure 4, as the characteristic footprint of a property right. Obviously, the characteristic footprint of a perfect property right represents the outer limit for the quality of all property rights. It follows that the corresponding characteristic footprint of any actual property right in the same space of characteristics must be completely contained within this rectangle. This is illustrated in Figure 5.
