1360 1911 "Commonwealth of Australia" 2/- Booklet for TASMANIA. Outside cover in red on pink surfaced card (85 x 58mm), inside green on pale green. Outside back cover with original text, with ½d pictorial (3) & original red opaque wax interleaves. F-VF, sl cover wear, minor indent from pencil writing which has been removed, with rust free staple. This variation unlisted in ACSC. SG SB4(var). 1397 1919-20 England-Australia First Aerial Mail by Ross & Keith Smith, cover addressed to Brisbane, franked with the blue "Ross Smith" vignette plus Australia KGV 1½d brown, tied by 3 strikes of the special oval cancel. Cover has slight vert folds but the Ross Smith vignette is in superb condition. Very attractive & rare cover, only a dozen are known franked with an extra Australian stamp. 1998 Longhi AIEP photo-cert. (P) $5000 $8000

1398 1919-20 England-Australia First Aerial Mail by Ross & Keith Smith, cover to Mr C.H. Murphy at Federal Parliament House, franked with the "Ross Smith" special airmail stamp on reverse with the special oval cancel "First Aerial Mail / Great Britain to Australia / received 26 Feb 1920", with another strike alongside. Overall F-VF. Reference listing FR230. Showed clear signs of previously having an Australian stamp on the front UR corner, which was never cancelled & later removed (it has now been replaced with a KGV 1d red put in the same position). Listed in Yvert as the 1st airmail stamp of Australia - PA1 cat €5000 on cover. AAMC 27 cat from $5250. Rare historical item. (P) $3000 $4500

1399 1929 Airmail use of USA 5c Airmail envelope with KGV 3d blue & Airmail 3d tied by "Perth 4 JUN 1929" machine pmk, the USA 5c to pay airmail within USA. To Chicago with "JUL 7 Airmail" duplex b/s & machine pmk across stamps, endorsed in red "Insufficiently Prepaid", although appears correct rate. Extremely rare use of USA stationery as mixed franking when USA stamps were valid from Australia to pre-pay USA internal airmail fees. (P) $800 $1200
