Summer Dance 2014
The summer of 2014 will begin its dance season on July 7th. Regarding classes, we are implementing the same structure as 2013’s summer schedule, weekly classes for five weeks. We are also offering weekly private lessons as before, and you can sign up for your slot on the sheet in the parents’ area. Tuitions are listed on the registration page and must be paid in advance of the class. Please note that there will be no weekend or evening classes.

Tap & Jazz Classes
The Intro to Tap & Jazz class is being offered for the 3-5 age group and is designed for the beginner dancer. Our goal with this class is to introduce the new dancer to different forms of dance and familiarize them with the beginning steps of tap and jazz. Classes will be 45-minutes.
The Intro to Tap class, a 45-minute session for the beginning tapper, is being offered for the 4-6 age group. We’ll be working on tap steps, short rhythmic combinations, and the different sounds created by the dancer.
Tap Technique requires 2-3 years of tap experience, working on sounds and correct movement for the young tapper.
Introduction to Jazz, ages 9-11, is a new class this summer. Designed for all dancers that are interested in adding jazz to their collection of dance styles.
Jumps & Turns
Here is a summer class we’ve held for years, designed to work on the dancer’s technique. A great class to work on your skills, plus learn an array of other fun and exciting turns and jumps!! We might even work on scorpions, tumbling and more … a fun class for two age groups, both 9-12 and 13+. And this year we’ve added a “Little” version of the class for our younger dancers!!
Introduction to Irish Dance
A big hit every year, we are once again offering our Irish dance introductory session. Age groups available are 4-7 and 8-11. This will be a 45-minute class that introduces the new Irish dancer to the building blocks of Irish with an emphasis on soft shoe.
ROC Wannabe Classes
This fall we’ll be adding a new class of ROC dancers to our group … our Minis are growing up and ready to move on to a higher level. In addition we’re seeing some of our older Irish dancers showing great promise of making their way to the ROC! This class requires two years experience in Irish dance and will be offered for the age groups of 6-8 and 10-12. If you’re interested in becoming an ROC performer in the future, now is the time to get some extra skill work. The older group will be introduced to hardshoe as well. Please check with Kerry to see if you are eligible for this class.

Ceili for ROC Irish Dancers
If you’re an ROC Irish dancer, you should take advantage of the ceili class! These dances have come down through the centuries and are still danced at Irish festivals around the world. Here is a great opportunity to have fun learning three-hands, four-hands, all those “monkey” steps and more! Time permitting we’ll also include a set dance!
Hardshoe Drills and Technique
Here is an opportunity for all ROC dancers to work on their hardshoe. We all need improvement on our butt-kicking, crossing and turn-out! For two ROC age groups, Mini & Intermediate I and Intermediate II & Juniors.
Hardshoe Hiphop for the Experienced Irish Dancer
This class is designed for the older ROC dancer. It will be a fun combination of dance styles to more upbeat contemporary music. A fun class for the Intermediate I, Juniors and Seniors. If this turns out good, we will add this to your performance line-up!
ROC Performance Routines
There are many of you that have wondered “when” you’re going to learn some of the older dances we perform on a regular basis. Now is the time! Not only are you going to work on Sweeney’s Buttermilk

and The Snowy Path, but we’d like to teach more of you The Flurry Reel, a beautiful, wintry number that we’d like to fit into more of our shows if we have enough dancers.

Stretch & Toning for Dancers and Parents
This year we are focusing our fitness class on toning, stretching and strengthening for both dancers and parents. Geared to your particular needs, dancers can work on their splits while Mom’s are getting limber!
Tap for Adults & Jazz for Adults
We were unable to add a second session of Adult Tap during the course of the dance year, so for all parents interested in keeping up with your tap skills we’re offering it over the summer! Many of you have also been requesting a jazz class as well, so now is your chance to break into something new!
ZUMBA classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:15, for one and all … This year we’ll be having a five-week session for $30. Classes will be held downstairs where it’s cool if necessary!!
