4.2 MECHANICAL INTERFACES 4.2.1 LAUNCH VEHICLE COORDINATE FRAME The Launch Vehicle uses a right-hand
X-Y-Z coordinate frame, indicated with the subscript “LV”, centered 440.69 cm
(173.5 in) aft of the first-stage radial engine gimbal, with +X
LV
aligned with the vehicle long axis and +Z
LV
opposite the TE strongback as shown in Figure 4-1. X

is
the roll axis, Y
LV
is the pitch axis, and Z
LV
is the yaw axis.

All processing requiring access to the Payload must be completed prior to fairing encapsulation including remove/install-before-flight items.
