b. Address Codes for Service Treatment and Dental Records
Beginning September 1, 2014, the USCG stopped sending paper STRs to RMC and began digitizing these records. On June 1, 2015, the USCG began uploading their digitized STRs into the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) Healthcare Artifacts and Image Management Solution (HAIMS).
The Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) automatically generates a USCG STRs request for members with release dates of September 1, 2014, or later.
The table below lists the service history, service situations, and the corresponding source to obtain service treatment and dental records for officers and enlisted personnel.

10. Address Codes for Merchant Marine Service Records
For service, travel time, pay grade and other statistical information for Merchant Mariners employed by the War Shipping Administration or Office of Defense Transportation or their agents, and documented by the U.S. Coast Guard or Department of Commerce, use address code 52.
