Subject: FW: Engineering Assistant I/II/III (25-0206)
Importance: High
Howdy Dr. Lowery,
We have another entry level position for a bridge engineer here at the Alaska DOT. The closing date for the position is 8/18/16.  The position is based in Juneau AK and involves design, load ratings, and inspecting of bridges.  Since we are a small DOT we perform all aspects of bridge design making for well-rounded engineers unlike some larger private firms where I got my start where it was easy to get pigeonholed into substructure or superstructure design without having any infield training.  Any potential applicants can contact me if they wish.

Dr. Lowery,

I graduated from A&M in ’07 with a civil degree.  I was told by a recent A&M grad who works for us that you have a list on a website that you maintain where firms can list job openings for the students that are about to graduate.  We are looking for someone interested in hydrology & hydraulics specifically on the land development side.

How do I go about listing a job post on your list / website?

Thank you sir,

Subject: Bridge Designer Opportunity at FIGG for Fall 2016 Graduates
Lee, I hope that you had a good summer and didn’t end up working too hard. Things were busy on my end but good overall.
Since it is the beginning of another semester I figured it is a good time to let you know that we have openings for new and/or recent civil engineering graduates here in our Dallas, Texas office. Attached is both our flyer and Bridge Designer opportunity position description for your use and distribution (see http://lowery.tamu.edu/announcements/Figg4.pdf and http://lowery.tamu.edu/announcements/Figg5.pdf. Please pass the attached information on to any interest students and/or recent graduates as you see fit. We have talked with and continue to talk with a number of great candidates from Texas A&M, and look forward to meeting some of them in October when we will be down in College Station.
Also, I wanted to ask if there was anything we could do to help you improve your classes? Initial ideas that come to mind are helping to facilitate construction site visits, or providing a short presentation or materials related to a specific course topics to help align engineering theory with real world design and construction. I’m asking because I’ve had a few inquiries about the projects we are designing in Texas now (will be a few years until the construction sites are bustling), and I can’t help but still remember my site visits to the precast plant as part of my concrete design class and the visit to the sewage treatment plant as part of my environmental design class. Something about “oh, that’s how it works” still sticks with me.
Thanks for your help and I hope you have a great day.

Dr. Lowery,

I graduated in 1994, and am currently the Development Engineer in Richardson and have a job posting for a Graduate Civil Engineer (EIT). Could you assist me in finding some Aggie applicants?

The link below should take you to the City HR listing and I have attached the job description as well.

https://discovery.cor.gov/public/hr/job%20postings.nsf/007f629a0119fa7986256a5c0055717b/ed9e0c92645c8bf68625800700477971?OpenDocument

The posted job description is fairly bland, however, the position will be heavily into plan review and design, MS4 requirements, contracts, construction, grants, regional, state, and federal agencies, City Plan Commission, City Council and other municipal related work.

I could not get the position approved early enough to interview summer graduates, and am happy to wait for the December graduating class if need be.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you for your help.

I have been working at URS/AECOM for the past four years as an environmental engineer in their remediation group, and I have enjoyed my job very much. I am writing to you about an upcoming AECOM info session at Rudder Tower Room 301 next Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 5:15-6:40 pm. Would it be possible for you to make an announcement to the civil engineering students at A&M?
An AECOM Informational is taking place on Thursday, September 22, 2016, 5:15 PM – 6:40 PM in  Rudder Tower, Room 301.  Students are encouraged to RSVP on the Texas A&M Career Center web page.
Students can learn about the company and hear firsthand perspectives from engineers and scientists with various experiences about working for one of Fortune magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies”. Refreshments will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
By the way, AECOM plans to speak to Texas A&M ASCE on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. I should be co-presenting at the ASCE meeting, though I won’t be able to make the information session next Thursday. Also, we have posted requisitions to HireAggies and have reserved interview rooms at the Texas A&M Career Center on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
