Wow, how the summer has flown by!  We are so excited for school to start; for new friendships to be made and fun to be had. Our teachers are looking forward to getting to know our families. We feel very blessed that you are sharing your children with us.  Little Acorn is proud to provide a supportive, creative and happy place for your children.
Thank you parents for all of your continued support.  For many of you, this is your first year with Little Acorn and for many others, you are returning home.  The culture here at Little Acorn is a special one; one of change, friendship, growth and love.   Cheers to a great school year!

Please check out our new website!

Thank you Nate and Teresa Vick for all of your tech support, computer prowess and beautiful photos!!

We are very pleased to announce that we will be opening our
Busy Bee Afternoon class!! This class is 4-5 year olds. Class is Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12:30-3:30pm.  Our afternoon class is very special, it promotes close socialization and gives Teacher Kim & Teacher Denise the opportunity to individualize curriculum.  Please let us know if you are interested in the afternoon class!

I want to welcome our new teachers!  Teacher Katie is our new assistant in the Sunshine class.  Teacher Shannon is our new assistant in the Busy Bee class and Teacher Bella is our new assistant in the Dragonfly class.  Teacher Mikayla has moved to the Rainbow class.  Please help make our new staff welcome!

There is a special culture here at Little Acorn.  While we adore our students, we also greatly appreciate our parents.  Parent participation and involvement is very important to a child's success as well as the success of our program.  We ask for 2 hours of volunteer time from parents for the year, however we always welcome more volunteering if you are able.

I wanted to give an update on some of the activities that we have during the year, that require parent participation.  Please read your weekly classroom newsletter's, look for sign up sheets outside the classrooms as well as reading the monthly program newsletter. You will be well informed if you stay up to date on your newsletters!

Our first event is Fall Carnival.  Carnival is October 9th, from 5:00-7:00pm.  Each class is responsible for a carnival game. We will have volunteer sign-up's for 30 minute increments.  We also need help with carnival set up and take down.

Bake sale will be November 23rd & 24th. We welcome homemade baked goods as well as store bought goodies.  All baked good are donated to us and we sell them to our families just in time for Thanksgiving break!

Breakfast with Santa will be December 5th, 8:00-10:00am. We will need volunteers to help serve food, bus tables, assist with Santa's line and help take down.

Our annual Spring Auction will be March 5th, 5:00-8:00pm.  We will need a lot of help from parents securing donations for auction.   We call businesses and give donation letters to local companies asking for donations, parent help is a must for this event.

Lastly, we will also need help with cooking hot snack for our classes, once or twice a month.

Please contact your teacher or Katie if you are interested in helping with these activities.

I wanted to update everyone about the status of the Acorn that we were going to purchase for our playground. There was some miscommunication from the distributor from where the acorn was shipping from.  Due to this error, shipping was going to be exorbitantly high.  I did not feel that spending that amount of funds on shipping was the best choice for our school.  I am looking into other equipment options and will keep everyone updated as things progress.
