Staff-Student Consultative Committee. The representative is encouraged to bring to the committee any issues relating to the MA and may also attend some Departmental Meetings. In 2017, you chose Chloe Myers to be your representative.
The postgraduates organise numerous events, including a PG seminar series which meets several time per term on Thursdays, commencing at 5.30 (with drinks and snacks provided). You are very welcome there, and may well find it invaluable for both historical inspiration and social opportunities.
Each year in May or June, the research students in the department organise Histfest, a conference organised for and by postgraduates that attracts research students from all over the country. You are warmly invited to attend this event, meet postgraduates from other universities, listen to research papers and take part in lively debate. Please contact the current PhD rep, Erin Branwell or the organiser of seminars, Shona Thompson.
The student-run history society LUSH also runs a variety of events and provides a further opportunity to meet fellow historians from both within and without the department.
The postgraduate community is also invited to attend any of the departmental research events. Details will be circulated by email. In addition, you are strongly encouraged to look at the research events taking place across the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. These can be found on the FASS website Events page. There are excellent events happening regularly across campus!
