The above table clearly demonstrate that the formal vendor units are substantially larger than informal units. However, the size distribution of units in the former category is more skewed, with some units having investment of Rs 1 billion or more.

6.6. TURNOVER
The average turnover by size of unit is given in Table 6.3. Here again we observe that formal units are larger and there are some units with turnover above Rs 3 billion. However, there is substantial variation in size among the units, especially in the formal sector.
