CHORD CONSTRUCTION – THE SIMPLE WAY!


  1. Write the Music alphabet 2x along a line (VERTICALLY)

  1. Decide which MAJOR KEY you wish to investigate. Example: A+

  1. Decide the number of sharps/flats that match the Major Key you are investigating. A+ = 3 sharps




  1. Name the sharps/flats that match the Major Key you are investigating.


A+ = 3 sharps (F#, C#, G#)


  1. Attach the sharps/flats to your Musical Alphabet line.




  1. When creating chords/triads as they relate to a major key, they can be built on ANY scale degree. As long as you have the correct key signature, this method will ALWAYS work.



  1. The notes in each of the chords/triads are built on the distances of a

THIRD.
