Each semester Southern University at Shreveport administers the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) test to students who are in the process of graduating or transferring to a four-year institution. The CAAP test is a college-level assessment program produced by the American College Testing program designed to measure selected academic skills. The measurement of these academic skills gives Southern University at Shreveport information about the quality of education that students received. The overall objective of CAAP testing is to improve the quality of institutional instruction.

The institution is required to have an official record of students who completed the CAAP test before they complete the process of applying for graduation or transferring or if it is determined that they have over forty-five (45) credit hours. There is no pass or fail basis for the test, however, the institution must show a score on the student’s official record.

Upon admission to the test you must present a current picture ID, and be prepared to stay at least four and one-half hours. It is your choice as to which date you choose to take the test. However, failure to take this test on your scheduled date will result in a $36 re-scheduling fee.
