ROAP MEDIA UPDATE – 21-22 April 2005UN or UNEP in the news China pledges stronger efforts in phasing out ozone depleting substances People's Daily Online, China, 21 April 2005 - China will take stronger efforts to phase out ozone depleting substances (ODS) and is confident of realizing zero major ODS production and consumption by 2010, an official with China's environmental authority said in Beijing Wednesday. Klaus Toepfer, Executive Director of the UN Environment Program (UNEP), presented the award to Zhou, honorary chairman of the All- China Youth Federation, and six other winners at the UN headquarters in New York.
