The Rheem World Crown 300 Brings Championship Racing and Weekend Festivities to Atlanta-Area’s Gresham Motorsports Park
ATLANTA (NOVEMBER 8, 2011)—Kicking off on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 10, and running through Sunday, Nov. 13, the 28th annual Rheem World Crown 300 promises short track fans an amazing weekend of racing, prizes, giveaways, excitement and more! This venerable short track racing tradition roars into action at Jefferson Ga.’s Gresham Motorsports Park (GMP).
For 27 years, the World Crown 300 has been one of the racing world’s most admired events—attracting the nation’s top short track racing talent. The list of past World Crown 300 drivers reads like the “Who’s Who” of NASCAR®, including Bobby, Donnie and Davey Allison; Darrell Waltrip; Rusty Wallace; Alan Kulwicki; Mark Martin; Dick Trickle and many others. This year’s Rheem World Crown 300 promises to continue momentum from past World Crowns, and show fans three well-rounded days of competition from the sport’s up-and-coming drivers.
Atlanta-based Rheem, a prominent name throughout NASCAR, announced in August that it will support this important Georgia event through a title sponsorship, and the company has taken several steps alongside GMP to ensure that this year’s event will be better than ever. Working with track ownership, Rheem will provide fantastic giveaways and prizes for race attendees. Rheem is even providing Rheem World Crown 300 fans a chance to win a Daytona Fan Dream Package, which includes four tickets to the Gatorade Duel at Daytona, as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series®, NASCAR Nationwide Series® and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series® races taking place Feb. 23-26, 2012.

In addition, Rheem is providing several exciting giveaways throughout the Rheem World

Crown 300. Each day, Rheem will give the first 100-ticketed boys and girls under 12 years of age special commemorative T-shirts, which feature Rheem Racing drivers Spencer Davis, Brandon Jones and Kristen Wallace; 12-year-old Davis, 14-year-old Jones and 18-year-old Wallace will be participating in this year’s event.
“Rheem supports racing programs at various levels—from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to short track racing in local communities,” said Ed Raniszeski, Rheem corporate director, strategic relationships. “Rheem appreciates the determination and competitive excellence associated with racing, and there’s no better year-end, short track race that illustrates this better than the World Crown 300. We’re proud to partner with Gresham Motorsports Park to sponsor the Rheem World Crown 300, and look forward to seeing three great days of competitive short track racing.”
The event typically draws thousands of fans from across the nation over the course of three days. This year’s event kicks off on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 10, with practice rounds—which will feature Super Late Models and Pro Late Models; Thursday’s practice sessions are open to the public and FREE to watch from trackside. On Friday night, fans can watch the Rheem 75 Truck race, qualifying for Sunday’s Rheem World Crown 300, and the Mini Cups and Sportsman races; fans can also participate in an on-track autograph session.
The Beau Slocumb Memorial 100-Pro Late Model race will take place on Saturday evening. This race honors the life of a young, Georgia race driver who recently lost a heroic battle to cancer. The Pro Late Model race will consist of 100 green flag laps broken into two segments. Renegade, Mini Stock, Outlaw Late Model races, and an on-track autograph session will take place before the Pro Late Models compete in the Beau Slocumb Memorial 100.
Finally, on Sunday, the premier feature event will be the Super Late Model race, which consists of 200 green-flag laps broken into three segments.  An on-track autograph will take place preceding Sunday’s feature event.
“Over the years, drivers have flocked to GMP—‘Georgia’s Fastest Short Track’—for the annual World Crown 300, and thanks to recent renovations at the track, drivers are more excited than ever to race at GMP,” said Dan Elliott, GMP’s General Manager. “The Rheem World Crown 300 gives short track racers the opportunity to not only compete at a paramount event with both regional and national significance, but it also enables them to drive at one of the country’s best short tracks.”

This year, the Rheem World Crown 300 coincides with Veteran’s Day. Kipper Tool, located in Gainesville, Ga., will give 500 Rheem World Crown 300 tickets for Sunday’s race event at GMP to active military and veterans (with proof of Military ID). Kipper Tool will also conduct an exciting raffle on-site at the race where proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, Homes for Our Troops and the Fisher Foundation. Plus, GMP and Rheem will recognize veterans in attendance at the race.
