Prevented sowing / planting: Implications are mainly in the Kharif season, due to its overwhelming dependence on the southwest monsoon. Sowing operations are affected,
if the actual rainfall during June and July is below a certain point. This problem was faced during Kharif 2002 and to some extent during the Kharif 2004 season. This problem is not encountered during a normal monsoon, particularly in the early months.
It is estimated that the increase in financial liabilities could be to the extent of 5%.
