operations are carried out according to the convenience of labourers and not in accordance with the dictates of natural factors and agronomic practices. The traditional paddy farmers in Kuttanad who had once controlled the main opportunities of work by agricultural labourers and whose strength had once grown in almost direct proportion to the growth of the militancy of agricultural labourers have now become a dejected lot. While some of them try to reconcile with
the already changed situation, others are turning to other occupations giving up paddy farming.
