MENTAL TRAUMA
According to the United State Department of State, "victims' intrinsic feeling of power, visibility, and dignity are often masked because traffickers degrade and objectify them."
Victims of human trafficking can experience devastating psychological effects both during and after their journey. Many survivors may experience PTSD, relationship issues, depression, memory loss, anxiety, dread, guilt, shame, and other forms of mental trauma.
Victims frequently sustain physical harm. Traffickers and consumers of sexually exploited people frequently mistreat them. For an extended period of time, they may be raped, beaten, and abused. There is also a higher risk of STDs, infections, diabetes, cancer, and other illnesses. Due to a lack of adequate medical care, many infections spread and worsen, causing permanent harm to a person's health.
Victims of forced labour may be forced to perform repetitive duties in hazardous conditions for long periods of time. They may be exposed to dangerous materials or be required to work with heavy machines (Kiss,2019). As a result, many people are plagued by serious infections, respiratory problems, injuries, impairments, and weariness.
