B. Y. Duan was born in Hebei, China, in. He received the BS, MS, and PhD. degrees from Xidian University, Xian, China, in 1981,
1984, and, respectively. He studied at Liverpool University as a postdoctoral fellow from 1991 to 1994. In 2000, he worked as visiting scholar with Cornell University. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is a Full Professor of electro mechanical engineering with Xidian University and also the President of Xidian University during 2002–2012. He has worked in both teaching and researching of electrome- chanical engineering, focusing on the coupling and integration between electronic and mechanical te
Prof. Duan was a recipient of the Science and Technology Achievement Award by Ho Leung Ho lee Foundation of Kong Kang. He is the member of Scientific and Technology Committee of China Education Bureau. He is chairman of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal Electromechanical Engineering. He serves as the Editor of the international journal Multidisciplinary Design Op-
timization and Applications and Mechatronics and Applications. Also he is the Editor of Chinese journal Electronics Space Electronics and Computational
Mechanics.
