CHAPTER THREE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 3.1 Description of the study Area The Study has been conducted in Southern Nation, Nationalities and people Region (SNNPRs) embrace 14 Zones, 4
Special woredas, and one city Administration (BOFED, cited in Dara,
2012). Dawuro Zone is one of 14 Zones under the Region. Dawuro is bordered on the south by
Gamo Gofa, on
west by konta special woreda, on the North by Gojeb River which defines its boundary with oromia Region, on Northeast by Hadiya and kambata Tambaro,
and on the east by wolayita, the Omo River defines its eastern and southern bounderies. Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the central statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), this Zone has a total population 489,577, of whom 249,263 are men and 240,314 women’s with an area of 4,814.52 square kilometers, Dawuro has a population density of 101.69 per square kilometer. The Administrative center for Dawuro is Tarecha. This Zone is 505kms and 275kms away from the national capital, Addis
Ababa and Regional capital, Hawassa respectively
