size that clustering is a distinct dimension of land development. Unlike density and concentration, which are concerned with development patterns across grids, clustering is concerned with the footprint of development patterns within grids. Development maybe dense and concentrated and still not be clustered (because it is uniformly spread within all grids, high- and low-density ones alike. Conversely, a UA may have low densities and a low concentration, but clustering maybe high if whatever urbanized uses there are within a grid are tightly bunched.
