XV International Convention of the

Portuguese Killifish Association

Lisbon, 16th to 18th Outober 2015

REGULATION

1 INTRODUCTION

The International Convention of the Portuguese Killifish Association (APK) aims to contribute to the pursuit of the objective of the APK and is the most proeminent annual event of the Association. In addition to other activities, in the course of this Convention an exhibition, a contest and an auction will be held and are covered by this regulation.



2 RESPONSIBILITIES

The board of directors of the APK is responsibile for the organisation of the Convention. It is also responsible for deciding on any occurrence during the event and this organ is to be presented any and all claims. Decisions of the Board on these matters are final and without possibility of appeal.

It is the responsibility of all competitors and participants in the Convention full compliance with this Regulation

3 EXHIBITION

3.1 The International Convention of APK will host an exhibition of photographs and fish.

3.2 Registration of fish and photographs in the exhibition is free.

3.3 All oviparous fish belonging to the order of Cyprinodontiformes will be accepted at the show.

3.4 Species not currently included in 3.3 but that already have been in the past (e.g. species belonging to Adrianictids including Oryzias and Xenopoecilus) may be accepted at the exhibition. These species will not be admitted to the contest.

3.5 The fish for exhibition must be pre-registered until Wednesday, October 14th by 10:00 pm, and must be delivered until Saturday, October 17th by 12:00 pm. The pre-registration should be made to the mail: convencao@apk.pt.

3.6 Fish that are not pre-registered must be delivered by Friday, October 16th, at 12:00 pm.

3.7 Fish registration for exhibition must be accompanied by the following information: name and competitor's Association; identification of the species; sub-specie population collecting code (when applicable). The organization reserves the right to change data proven to be incorrect and will update the nomenclature of the species presented, in accordance with the current nomenclature and following the authors adopted by APK.

3.8 Fish included in the exhibition will not be returned and will be auctioned. Revenues revert to the APK.

3.10 All photos somehow related to Killifish will be accepted at the exhibition.

3.11 Photographs included in the exhibition will not be returned and will integrate the photographic archive of the APK, reserving the right of the Association to make use of them freely in any publication.

3.12 Images are accepted and evaluated on photographic paper with dimensions close to A4. They should, however, be accompanied by a copy in digital format to be sent to the e-mail address convencao@apk.pt. This file should be accompanied by the identification of the author, of the Association to which he belongs and the species photographed.

4 CONTEST

4.1 Fish may be presented in the contest by all persons belonging to at least one Killifish Association.

4.2 In the contest only fish borned on the premises of competitors will be accepted. Wild fish or any other fish acquired by the competitors after birth are excluded.

4.3 Lots presented by two different competitors are accepted as long as each competitor complies with the above listed in 4.1 and 4.2.

Group II - Aphyosemion I

Group III - Aphyosemion II

Group IV - Epiplatys

Group V - Rivulus

Group VI - Nothobranchius

Group VII –South American Annual killies

Group VIII-Other genera

Group IX - Non-Annual killiies breeding groups

Group X - Annual killies breeding groups

Group XI – Photography

4.5 Genus and sub-genus integrated in the contest categories

Group I – Fundulopanchax, Callopanchax and Aphyosemion (Raddaella)

Group II - Aphyosemion s.s, Mesoaphyosemion, Scriptaphyosemion, Archiaphyosemion, Episemion and Nimbapanchax

Group III - Chromaphyosemion, Diapteron and Kathethys

Group IV - Epiplatys, Pseudepiplatys, Aphyoplatys, Aplocheilus and Pachypanchax

Group V – Anablepsoides, Atlantirivulus, Cynodonichthys, Kryptolebias, Laimosemion, Melanorivulus, Prorivulus and Rivulus

Group VI - Nothobranchius, Fundulosoma, Pronothobranchius and Paranothobranchius

4.6 Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for groups I to X and 1st Prize to group XI will be awarded. A prize for the Best Lot on display will be awarded, as one prize for the competitor with more lots in contest.

4.7 Judges

4.7.1 Each group is evaluated by two judges appointed by the APK board of directors.

4.7.2 No judge may classify contest categories where their own fish are present.

4.8 Classification

4.8.1 Classification of lots entered in groups I to X shall be from 0 to 10 points. The judges must classify the lots regarding to the following aspects: coloration; size; male-female size ratio; general appearance-health; fins condition. The judges shall indicate the top 3 contestants in each group.

4.8.2 In group XI the judges just designate the winning image, valueing the technique used (image quality), composition, visual impact, originality and color fidelity.

4.9 Miscellaneous

4.9.1 In the IX and X groups the concept followed by APK is that breeding groups will be made up of three couples or two males and four females. Fish should be young with sex already well apparent. The classification should penalize both individuals too young and too old.

5 AUCTION

5.1 Bidding basis for the lots belonging to the groups I to VIII is 3 € and for the lots belonging to the groups IX and X is 5 €.

5.2 Auctioneer will increment the value of the bid at € 1 up to 25 € and 3 € above 25 € whenever there are two or more bidders bidding.

5.3 When only one bidder remaining arm lifted the auctioneer will start the count from 1 to 3.

5.4 If no one else bids until the auctioneer say "3" lot will be won by the last bidder and by the last value announced by the auctioneer.

5.5 Lots will be delivered to the last bidder against immediate cash payment. Lots will be re-auctioned If this does not happen.



5.6 Lots not bid will be sold after the auction to their respective base price (3 € Group I to VIII, 5 € Group IX and X). Lots not sold this way will be returned to its breeders. If this cannot be done, they should be saved for delivery to upcoming members.

5.7 Any doubt or disagreement arising from the auction will be subject to the final decision of the APK board of directors.
