International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM 2017)
For Stage 2 students – opportunity to compete in Boston, USA
The object of this project is to develop a new tool using molecular biology. There is lots of scope for interesting ideas from computing. Last year the group biologically synthesized a magnetic wire using amyloid fibrils and some cool chemistry. This year I’d really like to invite the most ambitious and talented group yet to work together to build a new molecular biology (or other!) tool of your own design. As advisors we don’t get involved in telling you what you should do, instead we guide you in how you can do it. If this really excites you and you would like to be involved, please apply as soon as possible; we want to assemble a team early in February 2017.
The iGEM project is fully funded so successful applicants will receive a stipend over the summer and we aim (funding dependent) to take as many from the team to the final international competition in Boston, USA in November as possible.
Contact Colin Johnson (C.G.Johnson@kent.ac.uk) for an application form.
