ALLEGACY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION – MEL HUGHES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Selection Criteria: For student members of Allegacy Federal Credit Union. (Can apply for membership with scholarship application.) Judged on academic performance (GPA >= 3.0), extracurricular and community activities, references and an essay question. You can request your financial need to be considered as a factor also. If you apply for, but are not selected to receive a Mel Hughes Scholarship, your application may be submitted for consideration of a General Fund Scholarship.
Amount: (4 - $1,300 for 4-year college; 4 - $250 for community/technical school)

CATAWBA COLLEGE
WEST TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP
Selection Criteria: This is for students interested in the teaching profession. The scholarship provides a wealth of experiences including early field experience, excursions and professional networking. A Student must have minimum eligibility requirements: SAT 1000 or equivalent and GPA 3.4.

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY
Selection Criteria: The scholarship has two award levels. Level A-Scholar of Distinction and Level B-Christian Character and Leadership Scholarship. Students must show evidence of Christian character, demonstrated leadership ability, and the Specified minimum unweighted GPA. Seniors should self-identify their interest in attending MACU and receiving this scholarship by completing a registration form on the MACU website below.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Please check with the college/university you are interested in attending to get information about any scholarships they offer, procedures for application, and deadlines you need to meet. You also want to find out admission application deadlines, FASFA information, and whether there are any other requirements (for example the CSS/Financial Aid Profile).
CSS/FINANCIAL AID PROFILE
Certain Colleges require the PROFILE to be filed along with the FAFSA. Some of the North Carolina schools that required it for 2012-2013 included Davidson College, Duke University, Elon University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, NC A&T University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest University. There are also specific scholarships that require the PROFILE. Registrations for the PROFILE are accepted beginning October 1. Application can be found at www.collegeboard.com. The PROFILE must be submitted online.
DAVIDSON WATER INC. SCHOLARSHIP
Selection Criteria: Local Scholarship: Student or parent/guardian must be a member of Davidson Water, Inc. – all customers of Davidson Water are members. Based on scholastic achievement, extra curricular activities and financial need, 2 recommendations. Must be accepted at a four-year college.

KEVIN JENNINGS EQUALITY
WINSTON-SALEM SCHOLARSHIP
Selection Criteria: Have a current minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, submit a one-page letter outlining the gay/straight alliance leadership he/she has shown in high school and /or in the community. Applicants are encouraged, though not required to attend a scholarship briefing on Saturday, March 21 from 2-3pm held at 704 Brookstown Ave. in downtown Winston-Salem. FAFSA DAY
FAFSA Day is Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 9:00-12 noon (times and locations vary, please check the website).This is a free service provided by College Foundation of North Carolina Association of Student Aid Administrators, and the State Employee’s Credit Union. FAFSA Day will have financial specialists and college aid professionals to complete and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) electronically.

FAFSA ON THE WEB
You and your family may complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web after January 1, 2015. The address is: www.fafsa.ed.gov. You may print out a pre-application worksheet for Web filers from the website. (If you do not want to file online, a paper copy of the FAFSA application can be downloaded or obtained by calling 1-800-433-3243.) The earliest you can submit this form is January 1, 2015. The sooner you file it after the 1st the better. Awards are made until funds are depleted. You and your parent can prepare by each applying for a US Department of Education PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Your PIN enables you to sign your FAFSA electronically. (Warning! This is a free application. If you accidentally go to fafsa.com they will try to charge you to help you do this application.
FORSYTH COUNTY FARM BUREAU
Selection Criteria: A resident of Forsyth County, pursuing a degree in the field of Agriculture, GPA of 3.0, short essay on “Why I want to major in Agriculture”, transcript and recommendation form.
Amount: $5,000- attending a 4 year college, $2,500-attending a community college

FORSYTH TECH SCHOLARSHIPS
Selection Criteria: Local Scholarship: Students planning to attend Forsyth Tech can apply for many scholarships for various programs using one application. Criteria vary for different scholarships. Students need to apply to Forsyth Tech before submitting scholarship application. Once you apply, go to www.forsythtech.edu, click on mytechlink on the top banner, login to Techlink with your account info, and find application under scholarships.

Selection Criteria: A college-bound female high school senior who demonstrates a desire to serve others and improve the community. She should be recognizable as having gone the extra mile to make contributions to the community as a volunteer.

LEGAL SUPPORT STAFF OF WINSTON-SALEM and
LEGAL SUPPORT STAFF OF NORTH CAROLINA SCHOLARSHIPS
Selection Criteria: All applicants must be sponsored through a local chapter or Member-at-Large of Legal Support Staff of North Carolina, Inc.. Students must be enrolled in a school of advanced education; in need of financial assistance; have at least a B average or not below 90%, if percentile system is used. Student must also participate in and out of school activities, have leadership skills and career goals. The winner of the local chapter scholarship automatically becomes an eligible candidate for the LSSNC state-sponsored scholarship in the amount of $2,000 for first place and $1,000 for second
place.

COMMUNITY SERVICE and LEADERSHIP AWARD
Selection Criteria: Local Scholarship: Involvement in activities similar to the purpose to the Civic Club, i.e. community leadership and volunteer service to the Lewisville community, club or organization involvement; other school activities; GPA>=2.5.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AUTHORITY
FORGIVALBE EDUCATION LOANS FOR SERVICE
The Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS) program provides funding for North Carolina students pursuing programs leading to careers in areas with critical need, such as nursing, teaching, allied health fields and medicine. Students who receive funds through this program must sign a promissory note agreeing to work in North Carolina after graduation in an approved position, one year for each academic year of funding received. Students who do not perform the required service must repay the loans in cash, with interest.

Selection Criteria: West Forsyth Student Scholarship: One student from West will receive a scholarship. Must attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC system. For a student who best exemplifies the philosophy of “People Helping People” and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Must have GPA>=2.5. THE AMERICAN LEGION LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
Selection Criteria: Those eligible to apply for the scholarship shall be the child/children or legally adopted child/children or a child of a spouse by a prior marriage or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services of active duty United States military and National Guard, and military reservists who were federalized and die on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. The applicant must be a high school senior or high school graduate to apply for the scholarship. MILITARY OFFICERS OF AMERICA ASSOCIATION

UNC-CHAPEL HILL – MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS AND CAROLINA COVENANT
Selection Criteria: All applicants will automatically be considered for University sponsored academic scholarships. (For fullest consideration apply by final deadline of January 10.) Admitted students and continuing Covenant Scholars who complete an application for financial aid are automatically considered for Covenant funding. The priority deadline for financial aid application is March 1. Students with a family income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level can attend Carolina without borrowing a penny if they work 10 to 12 hours a week in a federal work-study job.

WINSTON-SALEM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Foundation offers scholarships with more general eligibility criteria, as well as scholarships with more specific criteria, such as those for students attending specific high schools or colleges or those pursuing certain fields of study. Some scholarships entail a one-time award, while many are renewable for three additional years.
