Project Code & Title:

PPRA1704 - IOT system implementation towards a smart building solution for a satellite college– Dr. Andrew Donnellan

Brief Project Description :

Smart Buildings require measurement information from the subsystems within the building. Research in this area needs to address the issue of real-time implementations that optimize the performance while meeting the needs of the users within a real building.

This proposed project will develop an Internet of Things based data logging system to capture building metrics. It will involve developing an embedded system, capturing the required data in real time, and communicating the data to the cloud for future optimal control. The data objects can then be used to develop models for smart buildings in general and more specifically address issues for this building. The development of an instrumented test-bed real functioning building, with fast and location optimal data, will make it possible to solve research problems specific to this specific building, and its specific occupancy issues.

The student should be an Electronic Engineering or cognate field Graduate with a 2nd class Honours grade 1 degree or better.
