Dear Parents, Blockhouse Bay Intermediate will again be offering the chance for students to sit the ICAS (International Competitions and Assessment for Schools) examinations in 2013. These academic examinations are run by the University of New South Wales. More than 1.7 million students from around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, South Africa, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, India and the Pacific region sit these exams and it gives the students a good opportunity to sit a formal exam and gain feedback on their test result. These exams are not compulsory for Blockhouse Bay Intermediate School students and they are not part of the schools data gathering and assessment systems. The cost for sitting these exams is $8.50 per test, with the writing test being $19.50 due to it being hand marked. If you wish your child to sit these exams please fill in the form below and return the slip and money to school. Please put the money and slip in a clearly named envelope which your child will give to her/his classroom teacher. The closing date for entries is Friday 22nd March. As the examination papers get ordered from overseas, we will be unable to accept any late enrolments.
