Co-Curricular Programming Academic Year 2014-2015 FALL 2014 Interfaith Dialogue in Action October 8-November 19, 2014 Times and location sites vary.

Tasty Talks is a new initiative intent on engaging students at a deeper level with the large and popular Taste of UIC campus-wide event. In collaboration with Campus Programs and the Wellness Center, Tasty Talks is a dialogue workshop that focuses on the history, social context, and cultural importance of food and “cultural food” activities like Taste of UIC. The purpose of the program is to introduce students to the various customs, history, social justice, and identity issues found in topics of food. The goal is to get students to understand the food they eat at Taste of UIC in order to be more meaningfully connected to the mission and purpose of the student organizations who host Taste of UIC. Indo-American Center Gallery Visit and Dialogue Friday, October 31, 2014 10:00-11:30 a.m. Ward Gallery, SCE Community members from the Indo-American Center will visit the "South Asian American History, Culture, and Community" gallery exhibit and participate in a dialogue activity with folks from the Dialogue Initiative. Film director Jason DaSilva turns the camera on himself to document his journey of the quick onset of multiple sclerosis (MS). Film will have closed captions. Co-sponsored by UIC’s Dialogue Initiative, Urban Health Allied Academy/AHS College, Wellness Center, Mental Health Disability Alliance, and the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Asian Americans. "Making Noise in Silence" Film & Dialogue Intersections of Race, Deaf Culture, Immigration, & Youth Tuesday, March 10, 2015 12:30-1:45 p.m. African-American Cultural Center Library 200 Adams Hall, 830 S. Halsted St. A Film and Dialogue Program; Film explores two Korean-born students who attend the California School for the Deaf and shows how they navigate adolescence within the intersection of Deaf and Korean culture. We thought intentionally about the Latino/a experience and community within the education profession.
