Eli Cornwell apparently moved to Alabama before 1822 and to Pontotoc, Mississippi before 1840. Elinor Taylor was born November 3, 1823 in Union County, Mississippi, formerly Pontotoc County, Mississippi, was the daughter of Wade Bernay Taylor ("Wade Berry Taylor" & "Wade Taylor") and Naomi Berry, and died after 1868 in Lee County, Mississippi? which was formerly Pontotoc County, Mississippi. The 6 children of Eli Cornwell by his first wife were:



(i) Matilda Hardin Cornwell ("Mathilda Cornwell", "Matilda Cornwell"? & "Mat Cornwell") born September 16, 1819 (some say September 18 371 and some say 1822400) in Walker County, Alabama, married Rev. Walter Blythe Drennan ("Walter Drenman", "Walter Drenan" & "Walter Drennan") about 1841, died July 16, 1892 in Arkedelphia, Cullman County, Alabama, and is buried in the Arkadelphia Cemetery in Cullman County, Alabama. Walter Drenman was born May 29, 1817 in Tennessee, died June 9, 1871 in Arkedelphia, Cullman County, Alabama, and is buried with his wife. According to the 1850 census for the 12th District of Walker County, Alabama where the household of Walter Drennan then comprised: Walter Drennan, age 33; Matilda Drennan, age 28; Charles Drennan, age 8; Daniel Drennan, age 5; Martha Drennan, age 3; and, William Drennan, age 1. Also living in the same household was Adeniah Cornwell, age 20, who probably was the younger brother of Matilda Drennan. In the 1860 census of the same area, the family of Walter Drennan then comprised: Walter Drennan, age 43; Martha H. Drennan ("Martha Drennan"), age 39; Charles Drennan, age 19; Daniel Drennan, age 15; Martha Drennan, age 13; William B. Drennan ("William Drennan" & "William Blythe Drennan"?), age 12; John W. Drennan ("John Drennan"), age 8; a female named Ernl Drennan?, age 6; Darlin M. Drennan ("Darlin Drennan"), age 4; and, Walter M. Drennan ("Walter Drennan"),age 1. The children of Walter Drenman and Mathilda Drenman were:

Charles Drennan ("Charles Drenman"?) born September 6, 1842 in Alabama, married an Elizabeth A.M. about 1862 and who was born in October 1841 in Alabama.

According to the 1880 census for Blount County, Alabama, the household of Charles Drennan comprised: Charles Drennan, a physican age 38; M.E. age 38 and had 6 children at home: a son named C.T. Drennan "Charles Drennan"?), age 16; a son named J.M. Drennan "Felix Drennan"?), age 9; a son named D.E. Drennan, age 7 ("Edward Drennan"?); a son named J.L. Drennan ("Jesse Drennan"?), age 5; a daughter named W.L. Drennan, age 3; and, a son named W.E. Drennan ("Wallis Drennan"?), age 1.

According to the 1900 census for Jefferson County, Alabama, the household of Charles Drennan comprised: Charles Drenan, a physician age 57; Elizabeth M. Drennan ("Elizabeth Drennan") age 58 and had been married for 37 years and was the mother of 7 children, 6 of whom survived and 3 of which then remained at home: D. Edward, age 27 and a physician; Jesse L. Drennan ("Jesse Drennan"), a lawyer age 25; and, Wallis E. Drennan ("Wallis Drennan"), a musician age 21;

Drennan ("Sylia Drennan") age 5. Felix Drennan and Rosalie Drennan had 2 children:

Alan Drennan born about 1900 in Alabama; and,

Sylia M. Drennan ("Sylia Drennan" & "Sylvia Drennan"?) born about 1904 in Alabama;

In the 1900 census for Jefferson County, Alabama, the household of William Drennan comprised: William Drennan, age 51; Margret Drennan ("Margaret Drennan"?) age 42, had been married for 26 years, and was the mother of 9 children, all of whom were then living at home and comprised: Hubert A. Drennan ("Hubert Drennan"), age 24; Lillie A. Drennan ("Lillie Drennan"), age 18; Wesley E. Drennan ("Wesley Drennan") age 16; Eula Drennan, age 15; Fannie Drennan, age 11; Mary L. Drennan ("Mary Drennan"), age 10; Donald Drennan, age 7; Margaret Drennan, age 3; and, Charles W. Drennan ("Charles Drennan"), age 1. In the 1920 census for the same area, Margaret Drennan was age 63 and a widow; 2 of her 9 children, Charles W. Drennan (age 20) and Lillie Drennan Davis ("Lillie Davis"), age 39, were at home, together with Lillie Davis' husband, George H. Davis ("George Davis") age 42;

George W. Williams ("George Williams") born about 1844;

Catherine Williams born about 1846;

Margaret A. Williams born about 1847;

James H. Williams ("James Williams") born about 1850;

Tabitha Williams born about 1859 and died before 1870;

Francis Williams ("Frances Williams"?) born about 1862;

(iii) Mary C. Cornwell ("Mary Cornwell") born about 1823 in Alabama and married a Head;

(iv) Catherine Cornwell born about 1824 in Alabama, married Charles Williams February 22, 1822, and died before 1863 in Union County, Mississippi. Charles Williams was born February 22, 1822, died February 2, 1895 in Union County, Mississippi, and is buried in the Cornwell Cemetery. The children of Charles Williams and Catherine Williams were:

John Williams;

Cornelius Williams;

Armanda Williams ("Amanda Williams"?); and,

Silas Williams;

It is contended by some that they had another daughter named:



Adeniah Williams who was born about 1830 in Walker County, Alabama and died after 1850, at which time she was living in the household of the Drenmans ("Drennens"? & "Drennans"); 368

(v) Rebecca Cornwell born about 1824 in Alabama, married a Grant, and they had a daughter named Mary C. Grant ("Mary Grant"); and,

(vi) Adeniah Cornwell born about 1830 in Walker County, Alabama, and in 1850 was living in the household of the Drennens family.

The 6 children of Eli Cornwell Elinor Cornwell ("Eleanor Cornwell"?) were:



(vii) Rhoda Naomi Cornwell ("Rhoda Cornwell") born about 1843 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, married Dr. Thomas Clay Williamson ("Clay Williamson" & "Thomas Williamson") in October 1863, and died sometime after 1900 or about 1889375 in either Wise County, Texas or in Chickasaw Nation County, Indian Territory, Oklahoma. Thomas Williamson was born May 10, 1825 or May 10, 1827 in Jefferson County, Alabama, died January 10, 1904 in Brown, Oklahoma Territory, and is buried in the Brown Cemetery. Thomas Williamson was the son of George Williamson and Sabretta Dulaney. Apparently he had previously married Mary Frances Wiley ("Mary Wiley") February 4, 1850, then married Rhoda Cornwell, then married Miss Mollie E., and then married Lucy Ann Wardlow ("Lucy Wardlow". The children of Thomas Williamson and Rhoda Cornwell were:

Thomas Dursey Williamson ("Thomas Dorsey Williamson"? & "Thomas Williamson") born in August 1864 in Arkansas, married Mary Scott Adkins ("Mary Adkins") in 1889 and died April 27, 1944 in Shawnee County, Oklahoma;

Maxmillian Wade Williamson ("Maxmillian Williamson") born July 16, 1868 in Troy, Pontotoc County, Mississippi, married Martha Jane Snyder ("Martha Snyder") about 1889 and died November 20, 1942 in Shawnee County, Oklahoma. Martha Snyder was born in September 1874 in Texas. Maxmillian Williamson and Martha Williamson had 3 children:

George M. Williamson ("George Williamson") born April 1894;

Edgar C. Williamson ("Edgar Williamson") born October 1896; and,

Neoma G. Williamson ("Neoma Williamson" & "Naomi Williamson"?) born January 1899;

Lucien Hathcock was born November 2, 1857 in Graves County, Kentucky and died November 23, 1926 in Shawnee County, Oklahoma. Lucien Hathcock and Rhoda Hathcock had a daughter named:

Rhoda Susan Hathcock born January 1, 1899 in Brown, Oklahoma Territory, married Eugene Edward Porterfield September 29, 1920, and died January 16, 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Eugene Porterfield was born September 23, 1898 in Pottawatome County, Oklahoma and died June 25, 1975 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He and Rhoda Porterfield had a daughter named:

(ix) George Washington Cornwell ("George Cornwell") born about 1847 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, married Josephine Anderson about 1878 in Union County, Mississippi, and died either September 1889 or in May 1888375 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Josephine Anderson was born about 1849 in Mississippi, and died about 1932 in Garman, Texas. According to the 1880 census for Chickasaw County, Mississippi, the household of George Cornwell comprised: G.W. Cornwell, age 35; Josephine Cornwell, age 30; and a daughter named Corie Cornwell, 9 months old and born in August 1879. George Cornwell and Josephine Cornwell had 3 children:

Corrie Lee Cornwell ("Corrie Cornwell") born July 24, 1879 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, married James Abner Sullivan ("James Sullivan") on November 8, 1896 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, died June 16, 1955 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, and is buried in Ecru Cemetery in Ecru, Mississippi.
