In addition to these components, Core Curriculum includes the following initiatives that guide the development of teaching materials as well as instruction in the classroom: First Nations, Métis and Inuit Content, Perspectives and Ways of Knowing; Constructing Understanding Through Inquiry; and Assessment and Evaluation (Ministry of Education of Saskatchewan. Although the two curricula share a conceptual foundation, the FI curriculum differs from its English language counterpart in the areas of instructional principles and philosophy.
