THE COLLEGE REGISTERED NURSES OF NOVA SCOTIA PARTICIPATES IN

FAIR REGISTRATION PRACTICES REVIEW

The College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (the College), as the regulatory body, sets the standards and regulates the practice of registered nurses (RN) and nurse practitioners (NP). Everyone who practices as an RN or NP must be registered and licensed with College. The Fair Registration Practices Act (FRPA) governs the process the College follows to register and license an individual as an RN or NP. FRPA states that registration must follow a fair procedure and be transparent, objective, and impartial.

In the summer of 2013 the College participated in a Fair Registration Practices Act (FRPA) review with the provincial Review Officer. The College received one recommendation in relation to simplifying our website materials and several complements on our registration and licensure processes. The final report related to the FRPA review has been posted on the Labour and Advanced Education website: http://novascotia.ca/lae/RplLabourMobility/documents/CRNNSReviewFinalReport_000.pdf
