Applications are invited from suitably qualified university students for the following positions in the Operations Division in MTR Corporation : -

1. Sandwich Programme and Co-op Programme
The programmes aim at developing 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students through working in an actual business environment in MTR Corporation. Under the programmes, students are assigned to selected line departments to carry out an industrial project in the form of studies, analysis and experimental functions based on business needs.

2. Programme Details
2.1 Duration
2.1.1 Sandwich programme - The internship for sandwich students lasts for 10 months and spans from September 2013 to August 2014. Participating students would be in their 3rd year of study, in which they must obtain practical work experience with satisfactory performance in an organization.
2.1.2 Co-op programme - The programme lasts for 5 months and spans from February to June 2014. Participating student interns would be in their final semester of study with all major course work requirement fulfilled, thereby allowing full-time involvement in the department they are assigned to under this Programme.
2.2 Work Nature of Students Interns
2.2.1 Successful candidates are required to work full-time in the Operations Division. Student Interns will undertake an industrial project in the form of studies, analysis or experimental functions for a period of 5 months (for the Co-op programme) or 12 months (for the Sandwich programme) under close supervision from an industrial supervisor assigned by MTR Corporation.
2.2.2 The project would be related to railway operations, with significant relevance to what the student studied at university. Format of the project can range from desk-top study to trial projects requiring visit to sites, workshops or laboratories. The project may also involve coordination with other parties, and as such the Student Intern would be expected to conduct / participate in various meetings.
2.2.3 While working full-time on the assigned project, the Student Intern may also be required to take up any relevant tasks allocated by the Industrial Supervisor, where necessary, and to observe the corporate policies and guidelines of MTR Corporation.

Requirements, Application and Other Information
3.1 Requirements
Applicants should be the 3rd or 4th year students from Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering or Control, Automation & Instrumentation under Engineering Departments / Faculties at universities.
Potential candidates should possess the following academic qualifications:

Studying at a recognized university with a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B average or better). Applications with a slightly lower GPA will be carefully assessed. Applicants from institutions not using the GPA system will be judged on their overall academic performance.

Applicants shall also be considered on the basis of the results they obtained in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) and the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), and their academic and extra-curricular achievements in school.
Applicants should also possess good interpersonal & communication skills and be able to work independently on various administrative duties and be attentive to details. Hands-on experience in various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. is essential.
