INDEPENDENT FILMS MAKE SIGNIFICANT SHOWING AT 76TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS
LOS ANGELES, January 27, 2004 – An analysis of this morning’s Academy Award nominations by AFMA, the trade association representing independent producers and distributors of motion pictures, indicates that AFMA member companies were involved in either the production or distribution of 43 of the 110 total nominations.
“We are delighted that our member companies’ films have been honored with this important recognition,” commented Jean Prewitt, President and Chief Executive Officer, AFMA. “The number of nominations and the quality of these films reaffirms the significant role of independent film companies and the positive impact they have on the motion picture business around the world.”
